On the eve of this season's draft, we at 16Deep send our best wishes to every team owner and ne'er do well in the Brunch Lineup Setters Fantasy Football League. To us is given the honor of striking a blow for fantasy football which will live in history; and in the better days that lie ahead team owners will speak with pride of our come from behind victories, Roddy White trades, and ritual humiliations. We have a great and a righteous cause.
We have created 16Deep to chronicle the constant challenges that come along with having 16 teams in one fantasy football league. We live in a world where 10 teams is sizable, 12 is enormous, and 16 is unheard of. We are bombarded with "advice" on how to best draft a quality running back in the fourth round though we know full well there will be almost nothing of quality in the fourth round left. Even ESPN doesn't have a mock draft for more than 12 teams. The struggle is real. Our woe is the internet's gain. We use this blog to show you how we survive, give advice to any other league who is in the desperate position like ours, and perpetuate Tom Foolery among our current owners.
You may ask yourself why did we do this to ourselves? Why would we ever want to be in a league with 16 teams? 1. We are popular. 2. We never say no to things that could possibly be fun though they may be painful. 3. No seriously, we have people on a waiting list for this league. It gets really awkward when we have to debate their merits as a football fan/owner potential. Danny, our Commish emeritus, started this league two seasons ago with a rag tag group of friends. Let us be clear. There is no money involved in this, only pride. We plan on keeping it that way. Danny ruled over us until he went to New York filled with dreams and then dropped us flat when he realized he didn't care to be in charge that much. There may have been a girl involved. We decided to have a Battle for Commish to decide a new leader with all the right qualities: commitment to trash videos, drinkings skills, ability to humiliate themselves, and a bit of sports skills for giggles. Please see the twerking competition for details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol0AajgliNI Now Rob reigns supreme until one of us becomes clever at regicide. With a few new rules, we are ready to draft on the most kick ass roof DC has to offer.
Good luck to each one of you. And good hunting on the waiver wire.
